Julius Caesar crossing the Rubicon River, January 10, 49 BC
Caesar was staying in an Italian city and he had a decision to make. He could listen to the senate and stay out of Rome or cross the Rubicon River, entering Rome. starting a civil war. The struggle between him and the senates were that they were scared he would come back and get too much power, taking away from theirs. He moved forward with his troops. This impacted Rome because it created a war that would kill thousands of Roman citizens. The die is cast means you can't go back now and everything that happens now is because you cast the die. Caesar said "The die is cast," when he crossed the river.

March 15, 44 BC
Today, the Ides of March is known as the date in 44 BC when Julius Caesar was assassinated. He was stabbed to death at a meeting of the senate. As many as 60 conspirators, including his best friend, Brutus, were involved. They feared that Caesar would declare himself king, and end the Roman Republic. This made the public scared because they liked Caesar, who kept them safe so they would rebel now.
Julius was NOT guilty of this crime and he didn't deserve to die. I believe the Senate killed him out of jealousy and envied Caesar's power and influence. You can see this in many ways. First, the senate punished anyone who called Julius ''King'' because he was scared that it would end the Republic, and his power in government would be lost. Also, the senates said they were killing for the survival of the Republic . This is shown by how the killers claimed the murder was a murder of a tyrant. Last, The Senators who killed Caesar were rich men, who felt that Caesar giving money to the poor this had a threat to their interests.
