Became king, conquered lands, built buildings These six words illustrate the accomplishments of William while he lived. In 1066, William became the King of England. He was known as "the conqueror" because of his great military skills. The Normans were master castle builders. After 1066, England witnessed a massive castle building programme on the orders of William the Conqueror.

raised taxes, bad king, Magna Carta
These words show the most important thing about King John and the events leading up to the signing of the Magna Carta. Becuase of his bad choices while he was king, including the raising of taxes, John was forced to sign the Magna Carta by nobles.
The Magna Carta was signed in 1215. This gave the kings less power. The Magna Carta influenced the Bill of Rights because they are both documents about citizens' rights and freedoms.
